The Killing Moon by N. K. Jemisin Favorite Books of 2012 (So Far)

I’ve been debating whether or not to do one of these posts since I haven’t read as many books as this point in the year as I normally have. After thinking about it, I decided to just do a condensed version containing the two books that I think stand out from all the rest, plus one honorable mention. My #1 spot belongs to The Killing Moon, the first book in The Dreamblood duology by N. K. Jemisin. The writing, worldbuilding, […]

The Killing Moon by N. K. Jemisin Review of The Killing Moon by N. K. Jemisin

The Killing Moon is the first book of the Dreamblood, a new Egyptian-inspired fantasy duology by N. K. Jemisin, whose Inheritance trilogy has books that were nominated for the Nebula, Hugo, and World Fantasy Awards. It was released in trade paperback and ebook earlier this month, and The Shadowed Sun (Dreamblood 2) will be available next month. Rest assured that despite the small wait between volumes, there is no cliff-hanger ending at the end of The Killing Moon, and the […]

Sharps by K. J. Parker The Leaning Pile of Books

The Leaning Pile of Books is a feature where I talk about books I got over the last week – old or new, bought or received for review. If I can find them, links to excerpts, author’s websites, and places where you can find more information on the book are included. This week brought 1 ARC and […]

The Killing Moon by N. K. Jemisin Books of 2012: The Killing Moon by N. K. Jemisin

Instead of writing one huge post of all the books I’m looking forward to in 2012, I decided to highlight some of these books in their own posts throughout the rest of this year. That way I can include as much information as I want about each one without it being an 8-mile long post and can just compile a list of links to these posts at the end of the year. This is the first book in Dreamblood, a […]

New Book Deals and Giveaways!

It seems like interesting book-related news keeps coming in droves…  I was thrilled to see two authors whose books I really enjoy mention they had some new book deals, plus I’ve seen some giveaways that look pretty good recently too. N. K. Jemisin, author of The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms and The Broken Kingdoms, has sold her Dreamblood duology to Orbit (who is also publishing the books in her Inheritance trilogy).  I’m very intrigued – partially because I loved the two […]
